In-House Precision Mold Making: Vacuum-Forming Male-Mold - Our Core, Most-Recommended Process

page-1200-800

Precision starts with the mold. Kangyu's signature production process is vacuum forming with male-mold tooling - the technique behind our industry-leading fit precision, edge sharpness, and surface detail replication. This male-mold tooling is developed fully in-house, built from 3D-scanned data of the original vehicle to ensure an exact factory-level fit - no aftermarket guesswork, no gap or misalignment.

Note on process: This male-mold vacuum-forming tooling is used for TPE sheet forming, not traditional steel injection molds. This process gives us a distinct advantage in surface finish, edge precision, and texture customization that standard injection tooling cannot replicate.

How It Works

01

3D Scanning - We scan the original vehicle floor pan to capture exact contours and dimensions.

02

Aluminum Male-Mold Machining - The scanned data is processed into a custom aluminum alloy male mold.

03

Sheet Vacuum Forming - Pre-dried, heat-softened TPE sheets are vacuum-formed against the male mold, with material contacting the mold directly on the front (A-side), then trimmed to final shape.

Why Male-Mold  Is Our Core Process

Direct front-side (A-side) contact fully replicates fine design details, producing sharper, more defined edges and richer surface texture

Superior surface detail that stays true to the original design intent - the technique behind Kangyu's signature fit precision

Applied as our default, most-recommended process across the vast majority of vehicle models we cover

1-
Complementary Capability: Female-Mold Vacuum Forming

For select models and specific customization needs, we also offer female-mold vacuum forming as a complementary process. Here, the material contacts the mold on the reverse side, protecting the visible surface from tooling marks - a useful option for particular project requirements and higher mold stability where relevant.

What This Means for Your Order

Whether you need a mold for an existing vehicle platform or a brand-new model, our team manages the full tooling development cycle without relying on external mold shops.

2- 2

Faster tooling turnaround since mold design, machining, and trial-fitting all happen in-house

3-

Broad vehicle-model coverage, with the flexibility to develop new male-mold tooling for models not yet in our library

4-

Custom texture and pattern options achievable through our core vacuum-forming process
