With the continuous growth of vehicle ownership and rising consumer demands for driving experience, automotive floor mats - as frequently used interior components - are seeing comprehensive upgrades in their production technology. Recently, a number of enterprises in the industry have carried out technical research focusing on material innovation, structural design and environmental standards, driving this segment toward refinement and higher quality.
Traditional production mostly relied on cutting and splicing, which led to high material waste, and common issues such as shifting edges, warping and poor wear resistance after long-term use. Today, integrated hot-press forming has become the mainstream process. By using digitally controlled moulds that precisely match the chassis contours of different vehicle models, the mats are shaped in a single press, fitting more closely by over 40 percent compared with conventional methods while cutting down material loss. Besides widely used rubber and leather, new materials such as eco-friendly TPE and XPE cushion layers are now widely adopted, offering water resistance, anti-slip performance, sound insulation and temperature resistance. Some products have obtained EU REACH certification, with formaldehyde and heavy metal levels well below national standards.
In terms of production control, automated lines are gradually replacing manual work. Every step from raw material blending, forming and vulcanisation to trimming and inspection is monitored digitally, keeping pass rates of key processes above 99.5 percent. Many manufacturers have also introduced special antibacterial and stain-resistant treatments, extending product lifespan and enhancing health protection for users.
Industry experts note that future development will focus more on custom fit and sustainability, with designs optimised for the chassis features of new-energy vehicles, lifting the overall technological standard of the sector to a higher level.
